7 Free Ways to Better Health
It’s easy to get the impression that being healthy is expensive. We all have that friend who grumbles about the price of organic produce, gym sessions and natural remedies. Well, we are here to tell you that the simplest ways to be healthy actually cost nothing at all. They are, in fact, priceless, because what could be more important than your health and wellbeing? Here are seven free ways to better health:
-
Drink water: Last time we checked water was virtually free and the healthiest drink available. We know water is the best thing to nourish our body so keep a water bottle or glass handy all day, and watch it disappear.
-
Meditate: Our hustling, bustling world of technology, social media and constant interruptions is stressing us out and not allowing us to switch off. Calming your mind whether through a seated or moving meditation can give your brain the welcome break it needs.
-
Get fresh air: You don’t need a gym or a sports club to get you exercising, nor the cost that comes with it. All you need is a pair of walking or running shoes. We are lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world with a variety of walks, parks and tracks to explore.
-
Make healthy choices: We are constantly choosing between healthy and unhealthy as we navigate our day. Say ‘no’ to the extra coffee or drink of alcohol and the additional Netflix show at midnight. Furthermore, try to opt for the healthier food choice the majority of the time.
-
Get a good night’s sleep: We know it can be difficult but adequate sleep can absolutely affect how you function during the day and your overall mood. Lack of sleep may also have you reaching for extra coffee and chocolate which is what we don’t want. Aim for six to eight hours of sleep or what suits your body best. For those with young children, we understand that this is not always possible. Be kind to yourself and sleep when you can so you are not in debt when you need it most.
-
Hang with the healthy people: The healthiest people are those who have relationships with other healthy people. Surround yourself with friends who look after their own mental, emotional and physical health and who will be a support to you too.
-
Hug someone you love: Touch is a human need. It helps our babies grow and flourish and adults benefit too. Give yourself and those you love an endorphin rush by sharing hugs as many times a day as you can fit in!
